We continually watch and adapt to the ever changing COVID-19 pandemic. We are currently working on sourcing boxes and finding vendors to sell our to-go BORDs at. Large BORD orders remain closed for the foreseeable future. We will keep you updated!
How do I book?
Click here to get in touch with us and we will get back to you ASAP with a quote. A 50% non–refundable deposit is required at booking to lock in your date. Without a deposit we cannot save your date. Full balance is due upon delivery of your beautiful set up. Booking must be done at least 2-3 days in advance of your event date. If you are looking for a vegan BORD it requires 1-2 weeks notice as the cheese is made to order by the Vegan Fromagerie.
I’m having a large event. How big of a Big BORD should I get?
Our BORD size to people ratios for light grazing are recommended on our pricing page. Do you want people to be uncomfortably full when leaving your party? Consider going a size up! If you have any questions or are hesitating about what size to get, contact us and we will be happy to make a recommendation.
Can I customize my BORD?
Let us know your special requests and preferences! We will work with you to make sure your BORD is made just right for you. If you hate brie, consider it gone (but let’s be honest… who hates brie?)! We will make recommendations for things that you may not have tried before and hope you will give them a chance! We offer gluten free crackers, vegan options, vegetarian BORDs and can make your BORD nut free.
I have people at my event that have dietary restrictions and allergies. Can you accommodate?
We will work with you to adjust your BORD to fit your needs. However, we cannot guarantee there will be no cross contamination with certain common allergens including, but not limited to, shellfish, nuts, dairy and eggs among others. Get in touch with us so we can try to accommodate your requests.
What comes with my BORD?
Well of course all of the delicious food comes with your BORD! Other things that we supply for no additional charge include napkins, disposable plates and serve ware (dishes, cheese knives, serve spoons, tongs etc). To make the most of your event, you’ll want a sturdy table or counter top that will comfortably fit the size of your order. We recommend having at least 5-10cm beyond the width of the board and leave about 20cm at one end for napkins. The 60cm BORD is round and is 60cm in diameter. BORDs 1m and up are 50cm wide.
At this time SMORGASBORD does not provide disposable cutlery as we find most guests don’t need individual forks or knives. We will pick up the supplies from your event space within 48 hours as previously arranged with those booking. SMORGASBORD is not responsible for the removal or disposal of food waste post-event and we ask that you clear (but not clean) all set up supplies of food prior to pick up.
Do you offer a clean up service?
We get it, no one likes cleaning up. We are happy to come same day for clean up. An additional fee of $50 will be added for late night clean up 10PM and later.
Can I take home left overs?
As per Manitoba Food Service guidelines food is to be disposed of after being at room temperature for two hours or longer. Since BORDs are often grazed on for two or three hours we do not allow packaging of any left overs. At this time we do not supply to-go boxes for BORDs that are out for less than two hours.
Can I keep the board that my BORD is served on?
At this time SMORGASBORD does not sell our serving boards.
Do you travel outside of Winnipeg for event set up?
Please enquire for your BORD and we will discuss a small milage fee. Delivery fee is included in the price for set up within the city limits.
Can I pick up my order instead of having it delivered to save money?
SMORGASBORD lays out these amazing displays with lots of love and attention to detail. Our delivery fee for service provided in Winnipeg is built into our BORD costs. At this time we don’t allow for pick up of BORDs since they do not travel well.
How long do you need to set up a BORD?
We set up all our BORDs on location. BORDs need anywhere between 45 minutes and 1.5 hours of set up time depending on the size.
Is SMORGASBORD certified?
We have up to date Food Handling and Training certificate as per Manitoba catering requirements.
